New position: Researcher in Ecosystem Resilience and Climate Data Integration

The School of Agriculture, University of Lisbon (ISA-ULisboa) is seeking expressions of interest for a researcher position to join the SIRENE (Satellite Information for Resilience Monitoring and Early Warning of Ecosystem Tipping Points) project team. The project, is funded by and contributes to the European Space Agency Cliamte Change Initiative.
The project team is looking for researchers with a PhD in Geophysics, Technological Physics, Data Science, Environmental Engineering, Forestry, or related fields.
Main tasks:
Inventory of data and tools to analyse vegetation resilience
Analysis and modelling of long-term ecological data (e.g., dendrochronological series, eddy-covariance measurements)
Integration of climate, GIS and remote sensing data
Point-based field campaigns to validate satellite products
Development of early warning indicators for ecosystem tipping points
Candidate profile:
Experience with long term ecological/environmental data
Familiarity with Earth Observation (EO) data and validation
Skills in machine learning applied to climate or ecological data
Knowledge in Phyton or R
Ability to coordinate targeted field work
Strong communication skills and fluency in English
