Webinar Description

In this webinar, Abigail Waring, Earth Observation and Climate Scientist at the National Centre for Earth Observation (NCEO) and the University of Leicester, led an insightful session on 17 June exploring Land Surface Temperature (LST) and how it is retrieved from satellite observations. Specialising in satellite remote sensing and LST, she guided participants through the principles behind measuring land surface temperature from space and its importance for understanding Earth’s changing climate.

The webinar highlighted LST as a key Essential Climate Variable (ECV), explaining its critical role in environmental monitoring and climate research. It also explored how satellite-derived LST data are produced, alongside the methods used to validate and ensure the quality and reliability of these measurements.
